Let’s spend a (worthy) word about – Night train to Lisbon

Scissors Closests and Streets is a blog about an alternative way to see and live Fashion. Part of Goosebumps Mag, SCS is a sort of a wishlist of things we love, and we think are special. It is the kind of lifestyle we want to have and we can actually be part of. It is affordable fashion, it is stylish bands with their catchy music, it is known and less known movies and the style we find in them, it is young and fresh designers/brands, it is love for (not so expensive) shoes. Being part of society, if not society itself, Fashion has different sides. We found our favourite and personal one, through which we look at the World. We will publish some specific pieces here, but for a more in-depth experience into our side of Fashion head to scissorsclosetsandstreets.wordpress.com.

When a movie becomes art trough perfect images.

Night train to Lisbon – 2013 – by Bille August – Jeremy Irons, Mélanie Laurent, Jack Huston, August Diehl, Lena Olin, Christopher Lee.

Based on the homonymous novel by Pascal Mercier, Night train to Lisbon is, to me, the kind of movie that makes me want to watch it once in a while, without ever getting bored, leaving in me some sort of a nice feeling afterwards, knowing that I will watch it again. My 2014 first great expectation comes from Wes Anderson.

I am a huge fan of Wes Anderson: his movies are fun, they always put me in a good mood and they have plenty of style…great style, that I absolutely appreciate! Continue reading Let’s spend a (worthy) word about – The Grand Budapest Hotel

‘I Will Not Die, I Will Wander The Wild Waters Until All The Seas Run Dry’

The Easy Rider inspired project by Gala Knorr.

Gala is a London based artist/art curator/dj/photographer/newly stylist. She possesses that kind of eclecticism that allows her to do a moltitude of creative things, managing to do them all well. She is a crazy, talented creature who can not not be noticed.

A few weeks ago she started this new project: a photoshooting inspired by art and movies where fashion is the glue, and which I really hope will be the first of an exciting series.

Inspired by  the Easy Rider’s acid trip sequence, Gala has chosen the Highgate Cemetery as location, styled all the models and took the shots. “I played with the colours, inspired by painted photographs from the 20s, giving them a vintage look, with a psychedelic 60s touch. They all have a mystical aspect”, says Gala about her work, “I chose the title ‘I WILL NOT DIE, I WILL WANDER THE WILD WATERS UNTIL ALL THE SEAS RUN DRY’ that comes from the epitaph of one of the tombstones. It was great.”

And I personally agree with her: really nice job, Gala!

Cinema&Fashion #009# – Hugo

This is one of the movies that makes you want to go to Paris and stay there forever (unless you already are living there). The feeling you get during the whole movie is something in between happiness and apprehension plus that bit of serenity that makes you smile also during more tense moments. The emotional involvement is given by every aspect: music, colours, shootings, costumes, acting… And the story behind the story gives to the movie more substance: how the real movies for cinemas were born, what kind of movies were, the creation of scenographies and special effects, the story of a time when the entire World was changing.

Adventurous, colourful, full of magic. And also it does not certainly lack of style: as you should know by now, nothing makes me happier and more satisfied than watch a movie where every character has its own well defined personality, shown by clothes.

I will definitely watch it again…more than one time.
