A Band’s Style #003# – King Tuff

Have fun with King Tuff.

To be completely honest King Tuff is not a proper band, well it is, but it is more likely a “project”, the very latest one, that comes form a single, unique, very bizarre, as well as acutely talented, person. His real name is Kyle Thomas, form Brattleboro, Vermont (USA), but I personally like more the name King Tuff, I love the sound of it and it siuts him, really.

Leader of the garage-punk Happy Birthday, member of the bands Feathers and Witch, this chameleonic guy is always up to something, always creating diverse music, never boring or predictable.

With King Tuff, the band, the music that comes out is catchy and fun, that kind of Rock & Roll sounds that make you dance during live performances (they are even more cool live!), bouncing or tapping your foot when you listen to it through your ipod, over and over again.

Then the look: always wearing a baseball hat (from beneath which come out wild, long, wavy hair), odd earrings, checkered shirts, denim jackets, kitch rings…King Tuff has that 90s “slacker” look that makes impossible not to love, along with his music.

Let me tell you, in case you haven’t noticed yet, the guy is a bit weird too, and that is why I like him even more!

‘I Will Not Die, I Will Wander The Wild Waters Until All The Seas Run Dry’

The Easy Rider inspired project by Gala Knorr.

Gala is a London based artist/art curator/dj/photographer/newly stylist. She possesses that kind of eclecticism that allows her to do a moltitude of creative things, managing to do them all well. She is a crazy, talented creature who can not not be noticed.

A few weeks ago she started this new project: a photoshooting inspired by art and movies where fashion is the glue, and which I really hope will be the first of an exciting series.

Inspired by  the Easy Rider’s acid trip sequence, Gala has chosen the Highgate Cemetery as location, styled all the models and took the shots. “I played with the colours, inspired by painted photographs from the 20s, giving them a vintage look, with a psychedelic 60s touch. They all have a mystical aspect”, says Gala about her work, “I chose the title ‘I WILL NOT DIE, I WILL WANDER THE WILD WATERS UNTIL ALL THE SEAS RUN DRY’ that comes from the epitaph of one of the tombstones. It was great.”

And I personally agree with her: really nice job, Gala!

Designer Of The Month – A. Sauvage

Focus on A. Sauvage.

No formal training, no work experiences at Alexander McQueen or Vivienne Westwood or any other important fashion designer, no Fashion University. A background in basketball that could have led him into a great sports career, instead. Despite everything Adrien Victor Sauvage is now, at the age of 30, a talented fashion designer, after working for almost a decade as a stylist, personal shopper and lifestyle consultant, that followed his early retirement from a basketball career.

“His vision was to make luxury and sophistication accessible to men with very little effort in a climate which Sauvage saw as dominated by high-fashion catwalk collections detached from function and utility.” And in my opinion he got the point with his creations: easy-to-wear fine suits, casual clothes with a hint of sophistication, urban style readjusted to fit into a more “classic” way to wear.

You see, this is the kind of talent and passion I appreciate: the one that comes from some kind of “instinct” some lucky people own and, if directed in the right way, make them succeed in their dreams. I love his collections and he deserves any credit.

Ladies and gentlemen, here A. Sauvage.

Let’s spend a (worthy) word about – Magazines

Something special from Vogue Italy and COS.

I just wanted to make clear how much I love well done editorials. The perfect example I have recently found comes from Vogue Italy and COS. Both the italian iconic magazine and the scandinavian brand have managed to create two beautiful editorials to express trends and concepts for the upcoming Season.

It is my duty to point out wonderful works like these, and then enjoy every single shot.

The Mood Of The Week(End)

Straight to the point.

I spent this last week choosing outfits a bit more “clean and professional” for my days at work. Not that I usually choose random outfits for work, but this week I was in a particular “picky” mood. In addition to that I had some new pieces in my wardrobe and I was dying to mix and match them.

This outfit might seem quite simple and formal, but actually it is a combination of strong pieces that make me feel really good. I finally found some pleated, baggy trousers that siut me, after a long research and I love them!

(Almost) ready for the new season!

Shirt, trousers, necklace all COS, shoes Topshop, bag Maison Martin Margiela for H&M.
